Mission

The desire of Retirement Living is to honor God by providing the elderly with a lifestyle that values their identity, their independence and their dignity.

History of Retirement Living Management

Brother-in-laws, Douglas Maas and Paul Wyman, have owned and operated Retirement Living Management since its inception and the purchase of their first adult foster care home in 1998. The following year they completed construction of a new home located in Greenville. This home with its unique, streetscape-designed interior is called “Green Acres of Greenville.” This new, innovative design was so popular that over the next several years similar homes were built in Ionia, Cadillac, Manistee, Mason and most recently in Lowell. These “Green Acres” communities have “Park Avenue” hallways that boast 12-foot tall trees, park benches, canopies and street lights with each apartment having its own unique front.

In 2001 construction continued with Aspen Ridge Retirement Village, located in Gaylord. This 40-unit home was welcomed by the community to fill a need for assisted living and dementia care in northern Michigan. At the same time the owners were also opening a beautiful, stately home in Mecosta called Royal View Retirement Community which caters to a more independent population. In 2003, Paul and Doug purchased a home in Midland called Nottingham Place which specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

Once again, in 2007 construction continued and the unique streetscape design was improved upon to include a “Town Square” which features a 24-hour café, post office and pharmacy. Three homes have already opened with this new design; Turning Brook located in Alpena, Chestnut Fields located in Muskegon and Green Acres of Mason.

As Paul and Doug look toward the future they are both committed to continued growth for Retirement Living. New phases of construction are planned for Greenville, Alpena, Mason, Muskegon and Mt. Pleasant. They are also actively looking for new locations where they can provide a community with services to meet the needs of their senior population.

Live ~ Work ~ Volunteer

Retirement Living has room for you if:

               You or your loved one needs assisted,
                   memory and/or respite care;
               You love working with older adults; or
               You are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity.

Live: Retirement Living is a Christian community that provides residential care for persons with Alzheimer’s or dementia. We provide long-term care, adult daycare as well as respite care. Respite care refers to a period of relief for a caregiver that provides families with a break from the day-to-day demands of care giving for a loved one. It is ideal when caregivers take a vacation, are hospitalized or simply need some rest.

Work:
 Retirement Living provides a Christian work environment for persons that have a passion for serving older adults. Direct care workers are trained to meet the
 individual needs of our residents. Often, flexible work schedules are available for college students and retirees.

Volunteer: Retirement Living provides rewarding volunteer opportunities! Our residents especially enjoy music and singing. Would you consider having your choir (children or adult) rehearse once a month by singing to our residents? How about the bell choir playing for the residents’ enjoyment? Do you play an instrument that residents would enjoy hearing? Would you and a friend be willing to come inand lead a sing-a-long of old gospel favorites?
